The paintings ‘That Ocean Feel’ delve into that sense of calmness, peace and grounding I feel when near the ocean. When my senses and spirit are calmed by the beauty, smell, feel, taste and sound of the ocean as time slips away. I am also reminded of my cultural roots, being connected to the ocean. My people and ancestors who have lived by and depended on the ocean for survival, a source of life, we would not be here if the ocean didn’t provide for us. It keeps me connected to my people and my island. I may be a long way from my island, but it is with me in my blood and in my spirit, always.
