Venue Hire Terms and Conditions
Bookings
Venue hire bookings are made online on the Gwoonwardu Mia website at https://gahcc.com.au/venue-hire . After you have made your tentative web booking, your request will be reviewed and if there are any issues, you will be contacted. For more information phone the centre on 9941 1989, or email to gwoonwardumia@museum.wa.gov.au.
Cancellations
For cancellations, please notify Gwoonwardu Mia 24 hours before the event by emailing to gwoonwardumia@museum.wa.gov.au and calling to confirm cancellation on 08 9941 1989.
Payment
Payment must be made at the time of booking. If a booking is made online with a purchase order number, an invoice will be generated and emailed to the hirer for prepayment of the booking. Bookings must be paid prior to the event date and will not be confirmed until payment is received.
Catering
An urn with tea, coffee, sugar, and milk is provided and a cold-water dispenser.

No food or drink is permitted in gallery areas.
Cleaning
As a consideration to other users and the staff of Gwoonwardu Mia, please ensure the room is left in a clean and tidy condition as found on arrival. Place all rubbish in the waste bin located inside the room. Your assistance is appreciated. The hirer is responsible for removing all rubbish, decorations, catering equipment and personal belongings from the venue before leaving.
If the venue is left in a state that requires extra cleaning, such as stains, spills, damage or excessive dirt, the hirer will be charged an additional fee for the extra cleaning services.
Conduct
Hirers are responsible for the behaviour of attendees at their event at Gwoonwardu Mia. The hirer is responsible for the conduct of all attendees and children are to be always supervised by an adult. Any breach of these conditions will render the hirer and/or their organisation ineligible for future hire of rooms.
Smoking
All areas within the Cultural Centre, including the verandah, courtyard garden areas and outdoor space at the rear of the centre are non-smoking. Smokers must smoke in the car park area outside the public toilets across the road from the centre.
Alcohol and Drugs
Gwoonwardu Mia is an alcohol and drug free venue. It is the hirer’s responsibility to ensure that all events are alcohol and drug free. Any breach of this condition will render the hirer and/or their organisation ineligible for future hire of rooms.
Deliveries
All deliveries for the event must occur within the opening hours of the Cultural Centre (8.30am – 4.30pm). Any deliveries or catering arrangements outside these hours require prior arrangement with Gwoonwardu Mia staff.
Obligations during hire

Damage
Gwoonwardu Mia will not accept responsibility for loss or damage to equipment or property left on the premises prior to, during or after events. Any damage to the Cultural Centre building, grounds or property will be the responsibility of the hirer and the cost of replacement or repair will be charged to the hirer and/or their organisation.
Decorations
Candles, confetti, glitter, and untethered helium filled balloons are not permitted. Tethered balloons may be used. Any additional cleaning required through the use of decorations will be charged to the hirer and/or their organisation. Disposable cutlery and plates are available, but tablecloths must be supplied at hirer’s expense.
Additional charges
Additional hire charges will apply for events that begin or end outside of the Centre’s normal opening hours of 8.30am to 4.30pm requiring the disarming and/or arming of the security system. This is done by Gwoonwardu Mia staff and charged to the hirer at $100 per hour.
